NAME: norah elizabeth james.
AGE: sixteen.
GENDER: female.
SEXUALITY: heterosexual.
CRIME: hacked into the fbi and attempted to sell the witness protection list to various gangs/mobs. one of the gangs had a mole who reported norah, resulting in her arest.
PLAYBY: sky ferreira.
MEMBER GROUP: cheat.
LOVE: computers, reading, alcohol, having fun, loud noise.
HATE: authority, being told what to do, silence, being left alone, boredom.
STRENGTHS: lying, running, hacking.
WEAKNESSES: fitting in, shutting up, listening.
SECRETS: sometimes her intelligence,
FEARS: spiders, dying, being stupid.
PERSONALITY: norah is a clash of personality traits. she's naturally loud and confident, and sure of herself. she likes to be heard whenever she has something to say, and isn't afraid to stand up in front of people and tell them what she thinks. she's stubborn and unwilling to change her mind about things and prefers to do things her own way. if she knows that she's right - and she often is - she gets irritated when people try and argue, and has a small amount of patience when people disagree with her. however she generally has quite a lot of patience and is able to control any anger she might have most of the time.
she's something of a genius - she has an iq of around 163 and was a member of mensa from age seven until she was arrested. however, she's impulsive and often abandons logical thought to do whatever she wants to do. even when she does think things through in her mind and has a perfect sense of the consequences, she does the reckless thing anyway. however, she's incredibly rational when she needs to be and can keep herself out of trouble. most of the time. she tends to keep her inner geek to herself around most other people however - it's just easier that way.
norah is fairly immature and likes to act like a crazy little kid. her imagination is bursting and often runs away with her; she can frequently be found talking happily away to inanimate objects that she has drawn faces on, or playing pretend in some form or other. most others think that's pretty freaky, so norah keeps it hidden in an effort to fit in, something that naturally doesn't come easily to her. she's also quite rebellious - she hates being told what to do and prefers to be able to work things out for herself and figure out how to do it. she dislikes authority and knows she's a lot smarter than most of the adults who previously tried to tell her what to do, such as teachers, and simply ignored them. she's not your textbook nerd, for sure.
norah considers herself a good liar, and although she makes no secret of her past, she'll lie about a lot of things if she feels like it. she has an excellent memory and can remember the lies she has told, which means if she needs to, she can cover her tracks and create more lies. she doesn't care if people don't trust her, because she isn't a trusting person herself. she won't trust someone unless they can prove to her that there's no way they will stab her in the back; and of course, there isn't much way to do that. even with her close friends, she couldn't whole heartedly trust them. she doesn't expect any trust in return - it would be unfair to not trust someone but expect them to trust you.
despite all this, norah is a fairly kind person. sure, she won't trust you and she'll lie to you, but if you prove to be interesting, then she'd love to sit down and have a conversation. she likes to talk about anything and everything, to absolutely anyone who can hold her interest. she gets on best with other cheats, as they tend to be the smartest out of the groups and she prefers people she can have intelligent conversation with, even if she does try and hide her geek. however, that doesn't mean she has anything against any of the other groups and will gladly talk to anyone.
HOMETOWN: san francisco, california.
PARENTS: catherine marie james, thirty nine, defence attorney. william thomas james, fourty three, computer engineer.
SIBLINGS: curtis william james, twenty, older brother, art student. rosemary catherine james, eighteen, older sister, pyschology student. abigail jayne james & matilda rose james, thirteen, younger twin sisters, high school students.
OTHER RELATIVES: none.
HISTORY: norah was born on the ninth of march to catherine and william james, a happily married couple who already had two young children; curtis, aged four, and rosemary, age two. norah elizabeth was named for her maternal and paternal grandmothers, respectively. catherine and william decided they didn't want any more children, and that three was more than enough of a handful. the three children got along well together, and played and bickered as normal siblings do. however, both of their parents were well educated and wanted their children to be as well; all three children could read simple story books and write their names and common words before they even started school.
however, when norah was three, catherine fell pregnant again. neither parent was entirely happy about it, but catherine refused to get an abortion and so abigail and matilda were born - twins. curtis, rosemary and norah were overjoyed with their new baby siblings - norah especially, as it meant she was no longer the youngest and couldn't be treated like a baby by her two older siblings. rosemary and norah treated the new baby girls like dolls; dressing them up and playing with them, so that catherine was forced to supervise whenever the two older girls were in the room. the twins were treated the same as the other three children, and learnt to read and write at a young age. however, by the age of seven, norah showed the most promise - her parents entered her for a supervised mensa test, and she got in with an iq of 163.
she skipped fourth grade and went straight from third to fifth, and still found the school work easy enough. the school system decided to try something radical; norah couldn't work at an average pace and was able to complete an entire grade in the space of one semester. so they let her work at her own pace, putting her in classes corrosponding to her mental ability rather than her age. soon, she finished elementary school and gone to her local middle school - age nine, she was a year and a half younger than everyone in the sixth grade. however, her parents viewed this as an advantage and norah has certainly never felt like she has missed out on anything.
she left middle school age twelve, and found herself a freshman in high school. norah had absolutely no trouble with the class work, but found herself way out of her depth socially. she was thrown into a world high in hormones, alcohol and older kids. she had no idea what to do, and a lot of the students had branded her as the geek before they'd even spoken to her - based on the fact that she was a twelve year old high school freshman, the label wasn't unfounded. and so she hid her true self and created a new image, which everyone believed well enough. she became the crazy kid - sure, she was smart, but she didn't kiss up to the teachers and she forgot homework like everyone else, although she of course, forgot it intentionally. she passed her freshman year easily enough, and soon had a few pretty close friends. her life was uneventful; she didn't go to parties and get drunk, because even if she was pretending, that wasn't her thing. she didn't need alcohol to act crazy, or so she thought. in her junior year, age fourteen, she was taken to a party and in general terms, she got pissed. it was her first ever experience of alcohol, and she went a little over the top with it.
when she rolled home at three am, her parents were not best pleased. she was grounded for a month and had all her books taken off her - a much worse punishment than having her mobile phone or laptop removed, as is the case with most teenagers. however, a month without books left norah with nothing to do, and she wanted to do something ridiculous, outrageous, something to really make her parents angry. she thought up the plan to hack into the fbi, and worked carefully for a month trying to get in without detection. however, once her punishment was lifted and her books returned, she forgot all about it for a while. she graduated high school age fifteen - three years younger than usual - and tried to apply to college. but none would accept a girl so young, even if she had already graduated. this is where the flaw in the grade skipping plan really came into action. norah was left with nothing to do for years, until she was old enough to go to college. she decided to help her dad - a computer engineer - until she was old enough, as she had always been interested in technology and figured she would need money at college, so why not start early. however, working with computers reminded her of her hacking plan, and she returned to it. shortly after her sixteenth birthday, she managed to get into the fbi system and copied the witness protection programme list; a list that she knew could easily be sold on to whichever mob or gang would pay the highest price.
and so she tried to sell the list, and got a lot of offers for it. however, little did she know, there was a recently placed mole in one of the gang's - she had checked the fbi system before contacting the gangs for moles, but this guy had been placed after her check. he told the fbi what was going on, and they arrested her. her parents were devastated, but norah was only upset that she got caught. she thought she was going to a normal prison, but instead she ended up gassed and woke up here.
